I'm currently trying to buy a young fellow (23) from Cape Verde. He's played in France for 1839 days (2 weeks past eligibility for nationality)

I can't get him a work permit. Is nationality only gained if the player actually wants it? Is there anyway I could persuade him perhaps by announcing I want to buy him?

May I hijack this thread with a very quick second question; Cudicini has an English dual nationality, I know in real life there was some discussion about him playing for England, in the game would this ever be possible in this situation?

Rather annoying as I've searched all over for a winger and he fits the bill, wants to join but can't get a work permit. Doh.

I think you have to have an afiiliated club in a land as Belgium (or Poland) where they CAN gain the second nationality. I don't have one either but first clubs offered as feeders were all scottisch. Now waiting for my next chance and see what they offer me this time. I guess ...

exactly the same problem for me here, although I do have belgian feeder clubs. I got a few Brazilian under 21s without permits, farmed them off to my belgian feeder, and they became eligible for belgian nationality, but havent taken it and still can't get work permits! Can't find any way to suggest they take the nationality so I can play them...

Unfortunately you can't force a player to take a second nationality.
