I see that WSM 08 is now only $19.99 at Amazon and listed "In Stock" but I don't trust their shipping times.

GoGamer has FM 08 for the full price of $49.90 but I've purchased from them before and I know I will receive the game within 2 business days.

Has anyone purchased from Amazon in the US lately and did you receive the game promptly?

FM > WSM

I pay more for FM every year, and I will never advise anyone to buy WSM. Third-party support for WSM is non-existant, and SI has no intention of doing anything to change that.

WWSM is not that bad. I have had it 3 years running and there is nothing that is a show stopper. I think patches and what not might come out a few days later, but it isn't a big deal.

If you can get FM without hassle then I would go for it, otherwise just get WWSM and enjoy!

etc

with FM and WWSM. You just use different patches.

I imported FM 08 personally.

well if you buy the acutall CD version of the game, you know there is way to get around the whole WWSM thing to change it to FM to use the third party wares.

Do yourself a favor and get FM08!! I shall not touch the WWSM version again. SI just don't listen to the requests of WWSM users on these baords!

And this is exactly why North Americans should not avoid WWSM(which, by the way, is just FM in a different box).

The more we avoid it, the less support the series will appear to have from us... thus ending SI's need to continue thinking of us over here.

What is this? If it's the changing of wsm.exe to fm.exe this hasn't worked since the patch, as I understand it. Is there another method?

If WWSM was just FM in a different box then I would agree 100%. However, this is not the case and there are differences that change how much you can enjoy. I agree that SI has no responsibility to make sure 3rd party utilities are compatible but something needs to be done or attempted to appease all the angry WWSM fans.

If SI really wanted to grow support in North America then they would do a better job with North American leagues.

ONLY buy FM08. You get more reliable patch support and third party utility compatibility with FM. You always get earlier delivery when a new version of the game is released. SI has botched WWSM too many times, whether it's been with proper release dates or patch releases. Those factors may not mean as much for right now, since the game and the first patch are already out, but the compatibility with third party utilities could be critical.
