I refer to the post 'the best 4-4-2 in the world'. one of you said that 4-4-2 simply can't work on FM2008. Is this true? Cos I'm beginning to believe so. I played as Liverpool. I beat Chelsea 5-1 away and then I got whipped 4-1 by Man U the next game at home, Arsenal beat me 3-0 away and I have been crap ever since. I know I'm probably pants at this game (haha) but could it really be because 4-4-2 is too easy for the AI to beat?

I think it works I use 4-4-2 and I am safe in the middle of the table in december and im Sunderland it just depends on how you get them to play e.g. I use a big target man as one striker and a short fast guy as the other and it works really well against most teams.

4-4-2 worked in the 2nd beta patch, won the treble with Valencia w/o any transfers. Though it was a 4-4-2 diamond. Just had Zigic target man with wingers crossing in to him for header goals and long balls getting flicked by him into the path of Villa for tap ins. Zigic had like 25 goals and 30 assists. I havn't tried it for 8.01 but I don't see why the changes would make a similar style of play not work.

I always use a 4-4-2, and while i haven't been a spectacular success on FM08 yet, i still haven't really got any careers really underway...

If a 4-4-2 can send England into Extra Time against France while playing all outfield players in positions they have NO ability in, then it's hardly broke, is it?
