basically i have been playing this game as fiorentina for the longest of any of my 08 games, im in my 4th season now.
first season i came 2nd
second season i was 5th
third i came 13th
and my current season i am floating around the top 10 with 6 games left.

basically the first season i was beating teams with ease slightly tweaking tactic and carrying on to get results.
since then i have got better players in, but as you can tell my last 2 season have been under performing, i keep conceding goals left right and centre but my defenders all have 15+ in all vital defending stats.

my strikers get 5 shots a game average, and as a team im getting 20 shots and about 10 on target a game. But i am failing to convert chances and end up paying for it with a late comeback by the other team costing me 2 sometimes 3 points.

also a problem is my 1 striker position seems to miss an awful lot of chances who ever plays there, on the screenshot below its Millan's slot that doesnt score.

I took a look at the screenshots, you're playing an attacking 4-4-2 and from the results screenshot you seem to be strong at home but dropping points away from home.

Are you playing the same tactic home and away? That might explain your defeats on the road.

You might want to look at an Away tactic that makes a couple fo changes:

(1) away from hom, use Counter Attack, rather than Play Offside, and Defensive Line Deep rather than Push Up. It seems to me your offside trap is a weak point and if you push up, it leaves lots of space for fast strikers in Serie A.

(2) Away from home you might also play with direct passing and a normal or high tempo, which with a counter attacking style might get your strikers more chances.

(3) Away from home you might also slow things down by wasting time.

(4) Away from home, reduce your creative freedom (except for 1 or 2 creative forwards) so that your teams maintains a bit more tactical discipline.

(5) Try short farrows on away games for your wingers, to keep your midfield tighter.

You also copped some home defeats against teams that are higher in the table than you (Juve, Palermo, Milan). That suggests to me you're playing too attack-minded against good teams.

Try toning down the attack against top teams, perhaps approaching those games like away games.

well firstly i thank you for your responce, my final 6 fixtures went like this:
Roma(h) 6-1 win
Genoa(a) 1-0 win
Inter (h) 4-0 win
Chievo (a) 2-2 (was 2-0 up, conceded 88th min goal)
Atalanta (h) 1-1 (conceded 88th min goal)
Reggina (a) 2-5 (got hammered)

a few shocks there as ive never beat inter before in my 4 seasons so to beat them 4-0 was quite a nice feeling.

i will try some of your tips and see how next season goes.

bad thing is i am 15m in debt so ive had to sell vela for 30m to ac milan , signed him for 7.25m so not too bad.

well ive played about 4 games now away from home with a more defensive tactic and it seems to give me worse results than using my home tactic, i concede late goals and lose 1-0 after failing to score and im still conceding lots of goals in away games and home games.
