Well... I managing Burgos, a 2B2 Spanish team. Media placed me 1st in the division.

However, the results have not been good this season, despite using a tested tactics (developed in FM 06 and polished in FM07). In fact, the results have been terrible, considering that I am a clear favourite against most of my opponents.

P.S. almost forgot to mention... there have been quite a few players brought into the squad in the pre-season. So, my players "are some way short of operating as a unit". I assume it can also be a factor...

Don't expect FM06 and FM07 tactics to work that well in FM08. You will need to adjust it for the new release. The changes to the match engine mean that you will need to experiment with the settings until you find a tactic that suits.
