I need help PLEASE!!

I have a friend still using PS 5.5, OK, OK it's me. How would I create a SHARP outline around text or anything else. I've tried outerglow, stroke and expanding the selection. The problem is, wherever the font or shape has a sharp or 90 degree angle, the outline rounds off at that point. Please help. See pic

In the blending options menu,

go to "Bevel and Emboss" Then in the second from the top drop-down-menu, choose chisel hard or soft (to your taste). In the same menu area, you can change settings to further suit you tastes!! I hope that works for you! [righton]

I don't think sully is asking for a B&E effect though mflintjer.

Using PS5.5 you can easily fake an outline by using the Minimum filter, under the FILTER>Other/ menu. Here's what to do...

1) Create your main type layer.
2) Ctrl-click that layer to create a selection of the type.
3) Add a new layer and move it below your main type layer.
4) On the new layer, fill the selection with whatever colour you wants as your outline.
5) Deselect.
6) Open the FILTER>Other/Minimum filter and set it to whatever amount of pixels you want your outline stroke to be.

This methods will work for any version of PS.

TIP: the Minimum filter reduces pixels, but if you want to add pixels in the same fashion, then use the Maximum filter instead.

This is one reason why i really love PS's old native filters. They're much better designed. [righton]

Wizard! I spent a good fifteen minutes trying to come up with a solution in PS5.5 and couldn't. Nice tip Mark!. :} I immediately went and tried it out to impress it on my memory.

Re your tip: It seems to me that the Minimum filter added pixels and the Maximum subtracted. I think you've done a mental filter swap? The step by step tip is right on. ( \:] )

Mark, I went and did it your way, and I stand corrected!! Although, I did it in PS CS, instead of 5.5! Worked like a charm!! [righton]
