Welcome to the forums, dasailr03.
I presume you have some images already? What is the background? How good are you at creating masks?
With the preliminary questions out of the way, if you have a high speed internet connection, there are a couple of Russell Brown tutorials which address the lighting of the subject for dramatic purposes. The basic index of R.B. Tutorials is... http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html
An older one for PS 7, entitled " Lights, Camera, Layers!" which uses a mask is found here... http://www.russellbrown.com/images/t...icLighting.mov
A newer one for PS CS (but it would work just fine in PS7) is called "Lighting with Layers" and found here... http://www.russellbrown.com/images/t...h%20Layers.mov | |

Looks like you found Digital Anarchy's Backdrop Designer site. For 199.00 it's realy not a bad deal. I have used the demo, just don't have the scratch right now to buy it. anoter tutorial that may help some can be found at: http://www.renderosity.com/tut.ez?Printable=704
With some tweaking, you could use something like that to create a muslin effect. It gives good info on the way that cloth droops and hangs. Hope this helped.
Looks like you have to log in to get to the area I linked. The tut writer is MiKo0. Go to the site and look up his tuts. Very informative.

After masking the subject...
New layer for background underneath subject
Pick two colours (or more) for the backdrop
Paint brush around 30%
Get crazy with the Cheeze Whiz using Alt + click
Finish off with a touch of Gaussian Blur
I do that all the time when I feel the need for a backdrop.

Just create a background of a simple color to suit your fancy, add a slight bit of texture to it, mask out your subject and place it on your new background and then follow the simple steps in the Lighting With Layers tutorial by Russell Brown. Here's a quick and dirty sample...
I didn't do a fabulous selection (quick and dirty!). So I selected the subject, created a background with two shades of lavender and Filter > Render > Clouds, put the image on the background and used Filter > Render > Lighting Effects to get the lighting. It was more or less what Russell teaches in that tute.

I thought she was showing a little more leg than I allow.
The cult is growing.
One of these days she's going to get her own webpage.
Seriously.
