This is getting faintly ridiculous. I'm starting to have problems saving games - again. I've already exchanged my original 'faulty' Xbox because I was having problems with the game. Now it appears they are starting again.

Whose fault is it SI? Are Microsoft just selling us machines that are inherently dodgy or is there something wrong with the game? It's true that not everyone is complaining about this, but the numbers seem to growing slightly.

The worst thing is is that there appears to be no solution to the problem. Keeping multiple saves and rotating them is well and good, but the fact that the game can save incorrectly at any time and then freeze almost makes the game unplayable.

I don't want to

a) have to save the game before anything important happens

and

b) hope that it manages to save correctly everytime.

It's like NiROE said above, it would be nice to know what is wrong. Is is FM, problems with 360 (I can understand if it is, but I'd be terribly unlucky if I'd managed to pick up two machines with problems) or if its a random thing.

Unfortunately it only seems to be affecting a limited number of people - both Gamestation and Game where I live say that no one else has had a problem with the game. It's incredibly frustrating!

this is a nightmare, i've had the game since it came out & i've re-started 4 seasons so far. it doesn't happen with any other game i have, only this one & it's getting to the stage where i can't be bothered re-starting another season. if it happens again, the game is heading for Amazon & will get sold, whats the point in having a game that you can hardly play. Is there ANY solution to this problem?

From all the people here it sounds like it could be a fault in the game. It's not happened to me in a week or so since starting my 3rd Pompey game, but now every time I save, I save it to 2 or 3 different files ('Portsmouth', 'Portsmouth1' and 'Portsmouth2' in my case), so that if one file does screw up, I should have backup.

I shouldn't have to do this, granted, but it'll do me 'til we hear from the SI fellas on this problem. Have you SI guys had this problem yet?

i know loads of folk who haven't had this problem, which makes me think that it might be a console problem, although i seriously hope not.

We haven't been able to reproduce this (and therefore figure out why it may be happening).

Do any of you do anything such as stream music from your Xbox while playing or did any of you get a message or something or other while saving?

When it happened to me, I was just running the game and the game only. No streaming of music or anything else.

The thing that gave it away that it hadn't saved properly (and thus led to the save file ultimately being corrupted) was that it the save bar would fill quicker than normal - a lot quicker. Then for me it would sometimes freeze. I also noticed, like one or two other people, that the save file was noticeably smaller after this had happened.

I'm in a slight quandry - I don't want anything to be wrong with the game because I was really enjoying it, but I also don't want my xbox to be FURBAR'd, as it's my second one!

it doesn't happen all the time mate, i've restarted 4 seasons now but during those seasons i've saved after almost every game or at least after every 2nd or third game so it probably happens once every 15th save or so. best thing to do is just play the game & save often & it's bound to happen eventually.
