Default duplicating a background effect

Hi x900mhz and welcome to the forums! If this little sample image is what you are looking for it was made with two layers. The background or bottom layer was a red/black gradient. Actually, though, it was important that the black not be a pure black but a very, very dark red. So if you use the HSB color picker, pick your red and then move nearly to the bottom right for your 'black.' On the layer above that fill it with white and first use Filter > Noise > Add Noise > Gaussian, monochromatic, 400% (maximum). Next on the noise layer use Filter > Blur > Motion Blur at 90? and a maximum setting of 999 pixels.

In the layer's palette set the blend mode of the noise layer to Overlay and reduce the opacity a bit (about 75%). Finally, Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur... and adjust to taste. I used 0.7 pixels. Here's the result...

First layer Red/black. It looks as though your black could be a bit darker.

Top Layer step by step.

1. Filter > Noise > Add Noise. (Gaussian, monochromatic, 400%) I'd guess you didn't have it set to 400%.

2. Filter > Blur > Motion blur (999 pixels).

3. Change Blend Mode to Overlay and reduce opacity.

4 Gaussian Blur

Gradient Black <> Red
Set to Dissolve
Lay it down
Then Motion Blur

Or maybe even Wind followed by Free Transform.
