Hello to all! I'm very new to Football Manager having never played it before about a week back!! (Even the older versions!). Anyway, with FM08 due, I was able to pick up the older version pretty cheap. I started playing with Arsenal and did pretty darned well in the first season with them. I won the league (comfortably!), the CL and reached the finals of the CC. The FA Cup was a disappointment because I got knocked out early to Chelsea.
Anyway, so much for the blah-blah. Point is, that I was trying to experiment with the data editor and increase the transfer budget/ wage budget. That was just to see what players I could actually attract and for what price more that anything else. So, my problems:
1. I tried to give Arsenal an astronomical transfer budget and it didnt work. I even removed the debt etc and tried to play a bit. The most I managed was 78million and that was because I copied all the values from Chelsea. But it never goes to say 100m or more. Anybody know if there's some specific limit to that?
2. While playing my actual game (i.e, no fiddling around with the editor), I found that there's NO way I could afford to buy any of the really big stars. I even tried with Chelsea who have a budget of 80million (approx) and still couldnt afford players like Kaka or C. Ronaldo. They were both being valued at more that 100m which is ridiculous. Can anybody tell me whether thats just what I have to pay or is there a way I can get them for a realistic value (say 50mil)!
Thanx for your help. Appreciate it!
PS: Again, just for the record, I have the ORIGINAL game itself. No pirated copies. I say that because I'm sure I read somewhere that only in the cracked games is that transfer value for players so exaggerated.
The game is programmed to at least have some semblance of reality so there is an upper limit in the in-game editor for money- if you want to edit it beyond these limits you will need to use the FM modifier save game editor.
The original game did have a problem with inflated transfer values which were adjusted in the first patch, but it is true to say that the top players in the world are going to be very expensive because their clubs neither weant to sell them nor need the money.
Cheers for that mate. However, like I said, I'm very new to the game. So could you please tell me the patches I need to download? There seem to like a million of them out there and I have no idea which one I need. I wouldnt mind a sizable sum for the top players, but the problem is when a player is worth ridiculous amounts. For eg: in my game, I've scouted C. Ronaldo and he's being quoted at 160-190million, Kaka about the same as well. I wouldnt mind paying about 40-50million I suppose. But 160million is crazy!!!
Could you please direct me to the first patch? And also, will this change the transfer values in my ongoing saved games as well?? Thanx a lot for your help.
The in-game editor is included in the SI folder in your programme files but is not installed- find it and then run the file to use it. This editor is only usable pre-game.
If you want an editor that edits your current save game then you need to use FM Modifier ( FMM )- there will be a link in this forum to the latest version which works with 7.0.2
FrazT, thanks a lot for your help mate. Much appreciated. I got everything up and running now . One last thing if you could help me out. I've installed the 7.02 patch but would that take affect in my saved games as well? I've finished a couple of seasons with Arsenal and am in a really good position at the moment. I dont really want to leave this game and start all-over. Would the exagerrated transfer values continue in my saved game even after I apply the patch or would it change now? Thanx!
Installation of the patch does not affect your save-game but some of the fixes do require a new game to be stared before they are implemented- I am not sure if the inflated prices are toned down immediately in the patch but I think that they are without starting again. Cant be sure though but theer is no need to start again unless you want to.
