Am completely new to editing the database. When you start a new game and use your own database, is your own database an edited version of (in my case) patch 7.0.2?

IF you have edited the database, if and when you start a new game, you will be given the chance to choose either the edited one or the original one.

Sorry, just re-read your post- yes the edited database will be based on the database that you were on when you edited.
