Hi, In have football manager 2007 installed on both my laptop and my desktop PC.

The database on my laptop version is fully up to date and I have used the editor to change all transfers and loans.

The problem is thatmy PC version is only updated from the last patch.
What I want to know is how do I transfer the database and saved editor file from my laptop to my PC version?

do I just copy the database folder from my laptop version onto a USB and then overwrite the databse folder on my PC version?

I'm stuck

don't want to mess up my laptop version cos it's totally updated with everything !

i copied the folder from "db" containing my new created database and then put it into the relevant folder on my PC but to no avail

it just says that the editor can not load it up

any help will be greatly appreciated cheers

Hi,

First of, you're definately going to need to make sure both versions are running the same patch.

I suspect that is what's causing the problem because the editor after the patch is significantly different (as you may or may not know).

Transferring the database should be as straightforward as as dropping it into the same folder on your other computer.

I can't see any reason it wouldn't work.

Old databases are backwards compatible on the new patches but new patches are probably not backwards compatible to old editors.

Why are you bothering with FM2007 now though with the release of 08 so eminent.

I mean, I hate to sound like a total loser...but probably do but I've already started thinking about the changes to the database I'll have to make on 2008.

Another long-suffering Owl. With that in mind, I'll provide whatever assistance I can...

I had exactly the same problem when I moved to Manchester as I ran a game on my desktop PC in Sheffield and the same game on a laptop in Manchester, taking the updates back and forth on a memory stick. For me, it was a case of ensuring that any patching I did, I did on exactly the same day on both machines without fail. Other than that, it was as easy as dropping the saved game file into my FM08/games folder and it never failed me. I ALWAYS made a backup though in case something did go wrong.
