first of all manage the team you want to be. Then if you see a player who you would like to play for your team but you dont have the money easily just do this.
Manage the team who the player plays for (and your own team) and offer to buy him for nothing then accept it and offer him a contract tht he hopefully accepts

how to make sure he is very likely to accept? Put the player on the transfer list and change status to 'not needed' etc...

but doing that makes it too boring...

Better to make the contract run out in a few days, gives you time to snap them up before all the other managers realise they're a free transfer now.

As far as I know in FM08 you can't fine players to make them upset for no reason atleast.

To make the cheat even more perfect:
1. find the players you want using the in-game search
2. start up FMM, and edit the players to have 1 reputation, transfer listed, and value of very low, depending on what you think is very low (1K is acceptable.) click "save" in FMM.
3. Offer the 1K for the players, and as they've got a rep of 1, nobody else will want them.
4. Once you've signed them, load up FMM again, edit their CA and PA to 200, and all their stats to 20. And while you're at it, you can do the same to all the other players in your squad. Make sure to set reputation to 1 for all those you wish to keep. For those you wish to offload, set reputation to 10000. You'll get tons of money for them (not that you need it, as you're editing the game left right and center)

And voila, you have the perfect team. And after you win everything for a season or two, absolutely no drive to continue playing. You can then return to FIFA/PES/Call Of Duty or whatever's in with the lazy, ADD-afflicted crowd these days. ;p

That was a fantastic rant, i whole heartedly agree with everything. What post a stupid thread like this, I have 20 year old mates who still do this to get top players for there crumy favourite teams and all I can say to them is "where's the realism? Youv'e gone an killed the realism!".....

P.S. The new Call of Duty 4 does look good lol.

Manage all the clubs in the division and transfer players to your hearts content, sorry, what did you say, that's not realistic......... Oh, I must have missed something
