Though I'm not a noob at FM (Actually quite good by now), in a sense; I'm only an amateur an editing the database. So;
a)Why use .edt and .ddt when you can just use the editor.
Ie, you can simply change the teams in a competition throught the editor, why do some use .edt and .ddt?
b)How does editing the database make the game more liable to crash over an extended period of time?
I usually quite heavily edit my database and the game is prone to generate a crash error in about the 6th season. I do have a good computer and lots of free space so I have to assume its editing the data that causes this. Things like increasing team reputation, adding players, changing their abilities etc.
So does editing the data effect the reliability of the game and if so, what sort of chnages make this occur?
a) By using edt or ddt you can choose whether to use the changes or not but once you edit the database it stays edited. Also, eft and ddt files are much smaller than a whole database so people prefer to use these when it comes to sharing via downloads.
b) If you edit correctly then there is no impact whatsoever on stability, long term or short term. If you later use a save game editor such as FMM or use a cleaner then it can cause problems as time goes on.
