I have bought all the football managers in this series and have loved them all. I like to edit the database a little when i get bored of playing normal games. The Data editor is the thing that helped me stick to fm.
However recently i have had the urge to create new leagues/league systems and cups. I read a while back this was due to license issues. Fair enough. Then i read somewhere that Fifa Manager 2008 has managed to have the abilty to add leagues. Surely if a game like fifa manager can do it why can't the daddy of them all manage it.
I understand there are licence issues but why not create a patch with the ability to create league systems as long as they are created teams only. I can't imagine it being to hard for professional programmers to implement.
Reading on this forum i see there is quite a big demand for this. I am only posting in here to let other people have there opinion in the one place and not scattered all over the place.
Couldn't agree more, even if it was a little sub-game where you could create the leagues and cup compititons from the ground up, and if we had to make the teams and players ourselves then so be it! You could have an option to randomly gemerate the teams and players if you couldn't be bothered doing everything yourself.
I think things would get really messy if they implemented this.
in what way?
it wouldn't have to be part of the game at all. it could be a seperate program. and like people are saying you could have no real life elements in it at all, if it'd make things maessy in that way. you could literally open up the game and have to start from scratch. or if they did release it, SI could put in a couple of templates to start people off - a few different bare bones leagues and cups (?)... a function to randomly generate players and teams would be a good idea too...
for me all i'd like to see is an ability to create my own leagues and comps from scratch. if it could be implimented with real life teams etc, then great. if not, we'd manage.

Airdrie Legend.
But doesn't Fifa own pretty much every licence there is in the football world too?
I've wanted this for ever, I never understood how licences could prevent this because its just like being able to create clubs and players I thought. I'm hoping someone from SI could explain exactly why this couldn't be implemented.

So if I made the Tesco Value league and filled it with novely players named after naff products, do they own the rights to that?
Get real!
This would be a great feature.
Why does there always have to be a small group of people that have to attack anyone who dare suggest doing anything slightly against the grain of what SI wish to do? I'm sick of it.
Personally I firmly agree with what Airdrie :egend is saying. It would be fantastic. I dont reallly see the point of being against it, since it would not decrease the fun for people who are not going to use the option, and it would greatly improve the fun of people who really want this feature. Also it would improve the creativity and availability of Global football leagues. Creating all sorts of unofficial leagues would decrease the need for licenses. I cant see why anyone would be against this, And I would like to hear what the possibilities are of implementing such a feature. I presume it wouldnt be too hard if SI provided this editor with a fixed set of tools that would enable users to create their own leagues.
