Formula for Distribution of CA in FM 2008? Urgent Reply Needed
Has anyone here figured out how the FM 2008 engine determines limits player attributes? I've all but given up this game, it's getting lousier and lousier with each yearly regurgitation. No benchmark, for people to see if buying dual or quad core processor makes a difference. Pathetic match engine that disregards your precise team instructions. If this Mickey Mouse stuff continues then it's only a matter of time before someone else comes along and borrows the idea, makes a serious engine that doesn't make a mockery of the database it is based on, and takes all of us 8+ year long CM/FM junkies to greener pastures. I won't even start talking about Azerbaijan in Euro 2008... So, anyone here know the formula?

SI knows and have never said what the formula is apart from the fact that attributes important for a particular version are weighted more than unimportant ones.
I wont commnet on the rest of your rant but you might want to download the patch?

Not a bad way to go about spitting on SI, masking your bile as a legit question. :-/
Incidentally, what does any of this have to do with the question itself? Also, what does benchmarking CPUs have to do with FM?
Though, it would be nice if someone benchmarked it, to see what the actual speed differences are on different computers.

Hasn't got much to do with the question, you're right. A benchmark is always a good idea for hardware intensive gasmes. As for the formula, it's probably so lousy SI would be embarrassed if people found out that such a revered engine is in actuality, quite primitive.

FM is about as far from a hardware intensive game as can be found today... I'm running it on a Pentium IV 1.8 GHz, 1GB RAM, and it works just fine. Try finding another modern game that will achieve the same...
(Incidentally, a friend of mine runs FM07 on a Duron 733@820, also without much trouble.)
As for the formula, check out the Genie Scout, it does a fine job calculating player skill, there's no reason for the actual formula to be much different. And even if it is, who cares? A properly trained and utilised player will develop correctly, and that's what counts.
