I'm making a Roadrunner United team (for those who don't know, Roadrunner Records are a heavy metal record label who did a CD called the All Star Sessions where all their musicians collaborated).
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone thought any of the musicians should have specific positions or had any ideas for this. I'm about half way through at the moment.
Hmm, I've only just had the thought that metal fans on a football forum will probably be few and far between...
My Idea Would be have the drummers as goalkeepers, bassists as defenders, guitarists (Dino Cazares) as midfielders, guitar/vocals (Matt Heafy, Robb Flynn) as attacking mids/forwards and vocalists as strikers also with someone like Joey Jordison he could be a midfielder or a goalkeeper due to him drumming in slipknot and playing guitar in the murderdolls, Also any guitarists that play bass (Christian Olde Wolbers) or keyboard players take on a defensive midfield role.
This is just my idea maybe someone has a better one
FWIW, in the death metal band i'm in, the drummer is a goalkeeper, the other guitarist is a midfielder, and i'm a goalkeeper/left mid/right mid (guitar).
@stan - I quite like that idea, I might do that for the rest of the players. I've done about half of them, just assigning position that seem appropriate, eg Robb Flynn as a playmaker, Joey Jordison as a quick winger, etc. Dino Cazares as a solid defender.
Metal and football?...if i found a woman who like these, I'd marry her!
I like the idea but maybe you could go beyond just roadrunner united?...maybe you could also do the nuclear blast allstars? I mean I would love to see peter tagtgren and anders friden forming my frontline!
There's already almost fifty people on the roadrunner united team, so I might do another team with nuclear blast although that'd be a bit harder as I don't have a list of all their names/bands. I was thinking of adding the dethklok characters into the roadrunner team as theres only four of them...

Nuclear Blast Allstars have 2 albums, both released for the Nuclear Blasts 20th anniversary called "Into the Light" and "Out of the Dark", both of this albums have their respective core bands but using a different vocalist for each song.
b00m - awesome, thanks! I might look into doing that one when ive finished the roadrunner team. I'm just finalising it now, trying to get the team balanced. They seem to veer between being 'leading star' league 1 players and 'leading star' premiership players with no in between, so i need to balance that out.
