I think thats a fast track way of obtaining the sack - your board will be expecting you to win everything in sight, and if your teams not good enough you'll really struggle.

Try to make the player loyal and so forth, but ultimatly if your going to make a superstar in a team that isnt superstar material, you'll have to grin and bear the bids coming in and hope the player doesnt get upset.

What I try and do is make the player slightly better then the equivilent in their league and then increase it slightly year on year - so that some of the bigger fish wont be interested till later on....

never reject the offers as more often than not they become unhappy. All i do is negotiate and ask for 100mil which always scares off the bidders, and because your not rejecting anything your players don't become unhappy.

In previous versions the players could also become unhappy if you set the asking price too high... is that no longer the case?

But I agree, the best way to keep valuable players is to demand a price no sane club would pay. And if they do, even better, as you'll likely be able to buy two or three players of the same calibre for that kind of money.

if you have created a "wonderkid" put him in a lower league team with a loan in your club (4 years) and you get rid from the high bidders

of course your club as favourite etc....

for me... i'll just negotiate with a maximum amount... 145mil if i remember correctly... with 50% on next sale....
then they surely will withdraw the offer n ur player stay happy... n if they do accept ur offer... u still earn alot n can buy another 1 or 2 world class player...

God, I hate txtspk...

That works just fine until someone comes back with 14.5M (10% of your stated number (and eventually, someone will)) and the board accepts the bid over your head. Adding clauses to the original negotiation caan get you some big bucks, too, 'cause the AI tends to leave them in.

Having said that, all that money isn't going to do him much good if is rep is so low as limit his bank balance so much. No world-class player will want to come play for him. Max out the training/youth facilities, send your scouts all over the world, expand your stadium, but get players on par with what you've lost? Good luck.

Bank balance is definately limited by club rep, and through that limit, so is wage and transfer allowance.

I found some of these tips very useful. Cheers. I run two games managing Chelsea - one straight the other experimenting with the editors. One future-proof idea I came up with was to select say, 6 young stars (Ronaldo, Messi etc.) make them English and if neccessay reduce their age and then loan them for out for 3 years to a Premiershop club. When they return to you in 2010 (still under 21) they qualify for Europe (having played 3 years in England between 15-21 yrs). Also make sure you give each a 5/6 year contract & favourite club Chelsea etc.
