This is unlikely- it was put into the last download to guage reaction and viablility but I dont think there was ever any intention of charging despite lots of people offering.

Genie has made it clear that, unlike previous versions where adjustmenst from one version to the next was relativley simple, this one has major changes to the database which was involving a great deal of work- I cant speak about the ease of doing this in FMM but would reaassure you that he is perfectly aware of the number of people waiting and I personally dont think he will take any shortcuts to produce a version with only basic facilities. There is also the thought that he may wait till the full patch is out so he doesnt have to produce another version after it is released- that is, however, just conjecture on my part.

All I can ask again is that you have patience

As much as I support the idea of opening the original source, I must say... You all are becoming greedy.

He is spending his time on this program just because he is a nice guy. Make no mistakes.

Do not rush him. Even if he decides not to make it at all, you all have no right to judge him for that.

His program, his rules! He is doing the community a big favour by producing this excellent utility, so we have no right to critisise how long it takes or the level of complexity. If you desperately need scout to play go back to FM2007 until it's ready. That's what I've done!

There's a difference between being greedy or critical or whatever else the people are who are questioning why it's taking so long, and genuinely wondering why it is taking so long...

I'm not being greedy, and I’m not criticising Eugene Tarabanovsky for all his excellent work. But that doesn't stop me from wondering why it's taking so long!

The first version of Scout07 wasn't a polished piece of software, but it was released regardless and developed from there.

And you know, it's not completely his program, he was gifted it by Nygreen who was releasing and developing this program for Championship Manager back in the days. And they weren't necessarily polished, they just gave us the info we wanted!

And you know something, I couldn't care less if it's released or not, I have used it in the past when I'm playing my super leagues and making new players etc (but FMM with suffice for those requirements), but when I'm playing my serious games, I don't use it.

I've stopped myself from posting in this thread for ages because I knew I'd just end up taking a load of flack just like everyone else who dares question or wonder what's going on.

You've got to let people discuss this topic, as it's probably the most popular, without the myriad of, he's nice guy, leave him alone, do it yourself then, you're just being greedy, etc etc etc replies... It's ridiculous!

Discussion is good, I agree. Just a suggestion -to the programmers that are willing to help Genie maybe you could band together to try and develop an alternative if Genie isn't going to release the code (NOT a critism it's his project and so his right to choose to release or not) I don't know much about programming or how difficult this would be. Again not a critism of Genie but competition is always good. I would love to help but I'm a Maths Teacher so I don't have the correct skill set, however if testers are needed or anything I can help with I would be willing. Just a thought......

I make the same reply to most queries about when it will be released or why it is held up because , even after communicating with Genie, he is not willing to give an ETA till it is ready ( much like SI with the patch ) and has told us why it is more difficult than before. He cant say any more than that, but still the same questions are asked.

I am only trying to keep those who are genuinely interested informed despite little or nothing to tell them- negative news, howeever is better than no news at all IMO.

The only discuusion I will attempt to comment on will be that which has got abusive, pointless or unreasonablty demanding and believe me there have been some on his website. I have no rights on this site to do anything else, but will continue to be the conduit for information until asked otherwise by Genie .
