Hardly Any Vritish Regens In my Game Of Any Quality
Hi im currently playing my 5th season on fm2008 with the 8.0.1 patch installed and my only gripe is that there are practically no regen british wonderkids being generated , i am playing with at least 2 divisions in every league loaded, these are england spain portugal italy france germany holland and scotland on a large database, however even when i use the latest version of the miniscout and search for 16 year olds with potential of over 170, i have only managed to find 1 british regen that looks any good and hes welsh lol, could somebody explain this i thought the whole youth system had been revamped for this version of fm, has it been revamped so its impossible for england to produce any rooneys or gerrards etc any more!??

In my game i am Napoli and i've signed several english, scottish even an irish player. In fact one regen is so good he was called up to england's full squad at age just 19

It could just be unlucky. Perhaps in the future the British teams won’t have the talent they have today, its just one random version of the future. It’s possible that in another game you run, that Italy gets no great regens, or maybe Slovakia becomes a world footballing power. Obviously these things would be stunning if they happened in real life, but are possible none the less. Your current save game could be a once in a lifetime type of game, where the British countries don’t produce quality regens. I personally enjoy the fact that anything can happen in FM, where as in other games it’s quite formulaic as to who has and always will be a powerhouse.
You can’t judge it based off one save game. Load up many separate games where the British countries have poor regens, then you can say the system is flawed.

Did i say the system is flawed, no i just believe that with the amount of players in the game it is very possible that you should be able to build the backbone of an under 18's team that can go on to be great! As i am currently making it so that my Man United team will in a few years be built of all British regen wonderkids then i can resign and do it all over again with Leicester my two favorite club teams!

5 years into the future is not much, most of the starting players are still in the game...
Besides, the 170+ players are pretty rare as it is. My test game has 8 countries with full leagues and huge database, and retained players from several non-European countries. Miniscout reports 95352 players in database, and only 547 of those are 170+ PA. I believe that amounts to little over half a percent...

Huh, interesting.
I'm checking all my savegames now...
All were started before the patch, some on 8.0.0, some on beta patch. I don't really remember which is which.
1. Croatia $ Italy, no leagues retained - 17247 players, 573 with 170+ PA.
2. Italy & Croatia, started with beta patch, major world countries retained - 44970 players, 547 with 170+ PA.
3. Italy & Croatia, started without patch, major world countries retained - 44889 players, 545 with 170+ PA.
It would seem that the world's top players are loaded pretty much in any game.

This is good if there is only 1 british regen with PA of 170. Realistic. Unlike in FM07 where after 4 years there were so many scotish regens already better then the original scottish players and there were like 20 english players with PA over 170. Finally SI fixed it.

Well i am of an opposite opinion, i believe that it isnt realistic for say england scotland and wales to have at least a couple of wonderkids per generation, i mean look at the current squads im sure from each of the "home nations" you could find at least 2 wonderkids i mean weales have bale , england have a few the likes of milner walcott and more that i cant be bothered to type because my hands hurting from typing
