Default The only real question about the 8.01 patch

After playing about half a season with the 8.01 patch, the only question I have is when is the 8.02 patch coming out? I have to say "upgrading" to the 8.01 patch was about on par w/ "upgrading" from Windows XP to Vista. I thoroughly enjoy having more than half of my starting lineup out before the new year w/ various long term injuries sustained in games ranging from broken legs, fractured ribs and torn knee ligaments. Frankly I'm surprised that the Ebola virus, leprosy or cancer haven't made there way onto the list of long term injuries. Given the fact they seem to happen quit often this should definitely be considered. The "updated" database was also a nice touch, taking all the reasonably priced popular/decent players and increasing their asking price. I'm not sure what changed w/ the match engine either. Between the constant blown 1-on-1's, goalkeepers spilling the ball into the path of attackers, computer controlled teams inflicting serious injuries on your players, more frequent red cards and watching my highly rated (18+) free kick taker smash the ball into the wall time after time it really is better. At least my defenders close down now and my goalkeeper settings aren't randomly changed.

It might be time to go back to FM07 for awhile.

i agree with you there m8, i get p*ssed off with the game at the moment. before the patch i was at least having a good time, getting middlesboro to 4th in league. now with the patch i have lost every game i played, worst of this is i will be winning at half time and second half my team either forgets how to play, or the other team will always score goals in last 5 mins. i played my last game before i got sacked against bolton. i was winning 3-0 with 15 mins to go i lost 3-4 i know in real life this can happen but it happens to me all the time. i have tried every thing from total defence when winning but nothing stops the computer teams having a super unstopable team in the last mins of a game also when i played liverpool, i had 36 shots total in game 22 on target 0 goals. they had 1 shot 1 on target and 1 goal which happend yes you guessed it in the last minute. please si sort out the super ai in last minutes of a game its doing my head in.

Ask yourself this, do u want better closing down or better shots to goal ratio?

For better shots to goal ratio, then the beta patch.

Pls note: Players will shoot whenever they seem fit in the beta patch.

For better closing down, then the full patch.

I think its pretty unreasonable we have to make that decision in the first place.

To a degree you are right, but closing down can't exactly be that brilliant or we wouldn't be getting ridiculous amounts of chances an 1 vs 1's every game.

Closing down is somewhat broken on the closing down patch, but at least its broken for the AI team too.

The thing that makes the strikers-shooting-straight-at-the-keeper-bug so unfair is because its caused by tactics that the AI never uses, so it only effects the player 90% of the time.

I can't praise the first beta patch highly enough - this is the most fun Football Manager since CM01/02 now!
