i've seen defenders, both mine and the ai's, let strikers run through on goal without bothering to run across and get in the way. it's not even a question of them not making a tackle, or getting done for pace - they simply don't go near the striker, instead choosing to jog back towards goal

it takes all the fun out of the improvements made to the attacking element of the match engine, such as watching wingers skin opposition fullbacks, if the fullbacks are so clueless that they can't even stay goalside of a winger running down the wing.

as it is, defensive ai is very poor.

Even the worst of patches do not give your opposition 43 shots compared with your 4 unless it is, er, say, some League Two side versus Manchester United. All that screams of is tactics.

tactics advice still doesnt address his main complaint of distribute to/ defender collect being ignored by his goalkeeper and losing goals from the superior forward running of the AI.

lol i find it funny so many people play as big clubs and just expect to win every game, if this was the case why would u want this as it would be too easy?? its a manager game, the aim is to be a good manager and u will win game, if your not u will lose, SIMPLE

Wow, I must be a genius, because despite dozens of confusing loses I have promoted from bss to L1 in 7 seasons!

believe me and lots of managers: it's your tactics. and lots of more things, of course!!!

Having someone have 43 shots against you must be your tactics tbh. You are the first person to have this problem everyone else is having problems have 43 shots and still not scoring.

How come people are giving up on the game because they're losing? Instead of going back to FM07, why not try to beat this game instead, even if it involves trying seemingly "weird" tactics or strategies? It's a computer program, there virtually MUST be a way to beat it.

Of course, I have a flexible job and a lot of free time, so sitting down and playing hours upon hours of FM08 is no problem for me...

I'm thoroughly enjying 08 much more than 07. I do admit there are a few MINOR things that irk me a little and certain tactical options that don't seem to work as often as they really should (as well as ones that work a little too well). The challenge is just much more "real" in this year's version, more of a chess match and every time you load a game up, you're not exactly sure what's going to happen.

In the 07 version, I found that I can press continue a bunch of times and still do pretty well. It got very boring after a while. I guess if you want to stroke your own ego and just win, play it.

I find it not a challenge, because in a challenge there is a the possibility to win. This is with this game impossible: the challenge's outcome is already set.

It is impossible to win a game, unless you are lucky with the referees. The only games i win is because the ref made a mistake. No it's not my tactics: about 35 shots every match.

The only way to beat this "challenge is too save before every match and when you lose, rload untill you got a realistic and decent result. But as you will know that's cheating. And i'm not a cheater. SI has to do something about it really quick.
