It's rare I'm pushed so far as to start up a topic on a subject, but this is starting to affect my sanity. Here's the scenario:
Opposition play a through ball, your DC and their ST both set off after it. It might be a dead heat, it might even be 60/40 in favour of your DC, but it's irrelevant because all of a sudden.....
Your DC just stops.
ST gets ball, one-on-one with keeper, scores (most of the time) runs off to celebrate.
Is the DC ok, have his hamstrings just snapped? Is his leg broken? No mention of anything untoward on the commnetray bar, no green/red cross, condition hasn't altered....
SO WHY DID HE STOP?!?
I've lloked for the instruction bar entitled "Stop At Critical Moments", hoping to adjust the slider to "Never", but there isn't one. so it's something I can't avoid, and yet it seems unrealistic. Anyway, rant over, would feel better to know that others are suffering in the same way.

This is one of the MAJOR annoyances for me in this game. It didn't seem to happen pre patch, but since patching the game my CBs and FBs seem to just give up about a yard short.
I think this was brought up by jimbokav in an earlier thread and many people have experienced similar things.

In my mind, I just imagine that my centre backs have one leg 5 inches shorter then the other, causing them to fall over. It's the only logical explanation I have though of.

I'm sure it's been mentioned in numerous threads, but I was that wound up that I had to vent my spleen on here. The alternative was going out and committing a crime, and I'm a pacifist.
Also, I agree Ched that this didn't seem to occur as often, before the patch (fast becoming the most unpopular patch ever, it seems). At least, it wasn't as noticeable a problem as it is now. It's costing me points, blood vessels and now hair.

If they're side-by-side, the ST has tackled, or otherwise knocked your DC to the ground. They are jostling for position all the way down the pitch, and someone wins. Sometimes it's your DC, but you don't complain about that...
And, sometimes, depending on the ref, there's a foul called, too. The ST is more likely to be more aggressive as well, since the DC would be wary of a professional foul.

I think he's likely to have fallen to the ground. How he got there is open to question: Attempted a slide tackle but missed the ball? Shouldered out of the way by the striker? Stumbled and fell of his own accord?
Not that that helps us prevent it. But at least it provides a better mental image than "he gave up on the play" or "he just came to a dead stop".

always happns for me in in cnr, wen they clear the ball my def is on 1 side of the pitch & there st is on the other side & eh gets the ball & starts running, so youd expect the def to chase after him but he jus stands there & watches....

Is there any way SI could program something like the circle getting smaller to indicate a player is on the ground? It'd be really handy to tell when a player is down or (when two circles are really close) if both of them went for the ball and one got knocked down.
