ah thats a bit unlucky but once its in the disc tray hold a for the entire and see if that works

cheers mate I may try that just to see whether it does work on a different save but for now I'll continue to play my new Halifax Town save with 10 leagues.
As Halifax Town i managed to beat Lile 4-3 in a friendly at home! I was 3-1 up at half time and knew they'd come back so i wasn't fussed if i drew or lost even, but I managed to get a winner in the last 5 mins.
then went on to beat Wycombe 2-1 again at home. Its only 2 friendlies in but from my previous game with only 5-6 leagues i think i sussed out quite a bit about the Shaymen by the 5th league game so i've been able to apply that knowledge immediately - seems to be working well so i don't want to start again!

Hi mate when you set up a new game use the wizard and select your leagues that way i've got all the english leagues running and all italian and scottish leagues running to making it 14.
It'll do for me but would have liked to have been able to go with 14...

probably because you selected them, dont want to sound sarcy but im 99.99% sure you will have selected them

jkgki - I think thats the default setting.
On the first screen you need to press the left bumper and it will take you up to the tabs at the top where you can select custom set-up and select up to 10 leagues across as many as 10 nations (though this would only allow you the top flight division from each country including England - i.e you'd only have the Premiership)
If you are lucky you get to choose 14 leagues.

So when it comes up with the list of leagues, just click on x number of them and they will be playable?

Yep just check/tick the box of the nation you want to activate and then by pressing left and right you can choose from the top league right the way down to their lowest league but bear in mind that each league you choose counts towards your 10:
e.g English to conference = 5
Scottish to 2nd = 3
Spanish Prima Liga = 1
Italian Serie A = 1
That's yer 10!
