Im quite new to the site and have tried some of the tactics posted in the tactics section but with no success. Has anyone had any luck with the tactics on the Xbox 360? Im not saying one that lets me win all the time but something that works. Formation, Team instructions and player instructions would help. Thanks
All depends on the team you are using and the type of players in the squad, if you have wingers that like to run at players, use it to your strength, if players like to be creative, make them the playmaker. most important is to stick at it, use one formation in friendlies and use that all season (if injuries etc allow) and dont give up with it, players have to gel to new formations and this takes time. Hope this helps and if you want anymore info contact me on live, gamertag is Big Jimmy G, this goes for anyone using this forum
I too found that my PC tactics didnt work at all well on the 360, so I started again.
Basically pick your shape then load up the standard formation. eg 4-4-2 Normal. Then keep it simple. The majority of my team are on team instructions apart from the defence, and I have tweaked the Player Instructions (not the sliders, the rarely / mixed / often ones) and am doing very well in 2nd season. My 1st season I went through all the players applying the Rule of 2 and other various theories and, well, it didnt work.
So I guess that was my long winded way of saying :
a) Keep it simple
b) The standard tactics, with a little tweaking here and there, rather than a massive overhaul can do wonders.
1st season I was languishing in mid-table for much of it, sneaking a 6th place finish due to 3 wins in final 3 games. In this season I lost to Watford, and Reading, but beat Man Utd..go figure.
2nd Season It's still early days (mid Nov) but am sitting pretty in 3rd having conceded 3 goals all season, beating Chelsea in the process.
Oh yeah, I'm playing as Spurs.
Also if you are not playing with an out and out target man, I've found that putting your wingers to mixed crossing & mixed through balls rather than crossing often has paid dividends.
Thanks for the replies I will give it a try tonight. I am currently now playing as arsenal and am top of the league using 442 diamond attacking only half wa through the season so I will see how it goes
Sorry if this is a bit late, just a word of advice for those stuck with tactics. 4-1-3-2 is what I use and am top of the league as Man Utd half way through the season. Get a hard tackling DM and a prooven goal scorer and you are away!
ST ST

DL DC DC DR
^ being arrow forwards
have DM rarely forwards and same for with ball
AM going forwards with ball often.
Ive found this works well. I call it the 'Number 2 formation' when you try it you will no why.
Also found 4-1-2-1-2 works well with AMC being playmaker and plenty of creative freedom. Making sure DM rarely goes forward.
Hope this helps. Also youve got to change tactics i.e tweak width or play short passing every so often as teams get acquired to your tactics and well they no what to do against it!!!
the point about mixing up tactics is spot on. i'm currently managing spurs and was having difficulty beating teams such as pompey and blackburn (both in bottom three). changed passing and winger tactics and was unlucky to draw with man u. dont change too much but little changes go a long way.
