hi, im sure these questions have been asked before but it's such a huge forum i can't find my answers.
first, i'd like to say FM08 is great, just got it and have been addicted all weekend long - didn't sleep at all LOL
second, how do you make the players from going into an Unhappy mode after you reject another club's bid for them? like they're playing great, a team is playing great and if an offer comes in from another team and i reject - they go unhappy and then when i offer them a new contract - their agent says they have no interest, and they reject regardless of the amount i offer.
third - how do you pursue players that have no interest to come to your team/league? what can you do to make them happy/interested?
im not managing a premiership but a team in MLS lol (yeah don't laugh). i've managed to get some players over but not any big stars, regardless of the money i've thrown at them.
Generally, these things are almost impossible because in real life it's like that.
Players like Drogba, Berbatov or Anelka might get it into their head that they want a move and nothing will change their mind. you can try praising them a lot and seeing if they calm down after a while; otherwise take the money.
same with players who don't want to play in a lower reputation league or a lower rep team like Wigan, Derby or Sunderland. Why would they? Like those clubs you have to offer as much in wages and incentives as the board will permit - which mostly won't be enough.
In time, with success you can raise the reputation of yourself, club and league and that will entice better quality players - just like real life!

OH YEAH, forgot one more thing.
i only have one scout. is there a way to sign more and how?
Find scouts using the staff search screen or advertise in the job screen. Offer them a contract. The board will tell you how many is the max they permit.
hey, never thought about it that way. i didn't know it would be THAT real life but it's kinda cool.
but i also have a problem with my current players. youngesters turning into stars and i want to keep them in the club but their agent says "they have no interest".
The MLS is a very difficult league to keep players happy. At least you can trade away difficult players and get someone else in.
That's at least the good thing about MLS. If you have a trade offer accepted you don't then have to negotiate terms. They just sign.
So my advice on point two would be try to get as much money for these players, or trade them to another MLS team and make sure you get someone of equal ability.
And on point three, when I manage in MLS I try to sign as many Americans as possible. If you concentrate on trades only, you don't have an issue of having to make the player want to come to you - just having the trade offer accepted.
