Default Ah, good times...

Quick trip down memory lane...

I've been playing this game since CM2 (was about 1996/7, or so...) and am surprised how much more difficult FM2008 seems. No more killer tactics, player morale trickier to manage, improvements all round. Even the duds, like CM4 didn't put me off.

That got me thinking. I've played so many campaigns, I wanted to list some of the highlights here.

Highlight #1 was undoubtedly signing Ronaldinho to HSV from Paris St Germain for £5 million when a relegation clause in his contract became active (CM01/02). Went on to win everything with him in my team...

Highlight #2 was taking Partick Thistle from the Scottish 2nd Division to the SPL in consecutive seasons (CM3, I think). The club was bankrupted trying to modernise the stadium to meet SPL standards, which meant I had to sell my only good player, Willie Howie...

Speaking of which, where are they now?

Does anyone remember Willie Howie? Or what about that Icelandic fella, Sigthorsson, or something. I always used to sign him. And in a couple of editions Alan Quinn of Ireland was outstanding. Is he still around?

Have you any highlights to share?

Willie Howie

Andri Sigporsson!

Yes good memories but for me I got fed up of the older games as they were too easy.

Season 1, struggle.
Season 2, Do better
Season 3 , Win promotion
Season 4 struggle
Season 5 Win premier league
Season 6 Go to Season 5

Its far more challenging now and as Southend I never won the premier league in 30 seasons!

Im sure if Id hunted around for tactics and tips butg playing my own way I found it always gave me something to strive for and whilst
I turned them into a top 6 side the elusive championship always eluded me.

My highlight number 1

when in fm 2005 i managed my Dinamo buc side to 4 straight league wins 3 cup wins and i managed to get to the champions league group in the second season by trashing chelsea dinamo buc - chelsea 1-0 .....chelsea - dinamo buc 4-4 i coulden't believe my eyes

number 2

was when i managed ajax in the cm 2000/2001 of course i made some adjustments in the editor so every top class players were there and of course all where 20 or 19 years old ....it was sooooo nice to see them together (kahn, buffon, roberto carlos , cafu, ronaldinho , zidane , nedved , ronaldo ...etc)

number 3

is when i bought alex notman (he was so god like back then) to my man utd side and he was my goodness a goal scoring machine wow he had hattricks in every 2-3 games absolutely magical

number 4

must be from this year watching my barcelona side win the primera liga and seeing Henry score 65 goals in 55 appearance

Alex Notman perhaps the best player I'd forgotton about! Looking back I don't know how I ever did!

Had him at Derby county!

Also signed Kevin James they were the spine of my team!

Went on to become Arsenal legends after I took the England job!
