Hey, I have been playing this game for a while now and it's been epic. However I have run into somethings, that have never happened to me in other games I had before.
I am managing Middlesbrough in the first season and doing fairly well, 8th in the league, reached 6th round of FA cup (expectation 5th) and the 5th round of League Cup 9 (expectation 5th). After an intense 3-2 loss in the FA cup to Newcastle where the winning goal was scored in the last minute, the following happened:
1.The fans were very disappointed, the bar where it shows how happy they are is completely empty. Didn't like losing to a rival.
2. On the financial confidence the board was concerned with the current state of finance. This is stramge because I hadn'teven used half my transfer budget this season, all the budgets and balances are in the green, I have made 15 million pounds this season and we have 20 odd million tucked away in the bank. We have no loans.
problem with 1. The game was trememdous, it was free flowing, entertaining, they scored one, we scored two then they scored two. Surely the fans should have a bit more sympathy than that? Also the club has many rivals, at least 5 I think, for mid-tabe teams like Middlesbrough and not being expected to win every game shouldn't losing or winning against a rivalbe toned down a bit as it happens almost every single week? Losing is always disappointing I get that but so much that the bar is empty? Also When I lose say 2-0 to Manchester United the supporters shouldn't be THAT sad, I mean come on who expects us to beat them? Same as if we beat liverpool 3-0 (which I did) the fans were only just happy! Made me cry blood because that game cost me much to get that result.
2. We aren't in bad shape financially at all. I just want to know what caused this and what impact that can have at the end of the season if it stays that way. Will the chairman start selling players? If he sells Tuncay I swear I will hunt him down and spit on his face. Will I have less transfer budget next season? Not that big of a deal, as my transfer policy has always been "waste not, want not" and unless aplayer will make a significant contribution I never buy themjust for the sake of it. Will I be sacked? I may cut my in-game self if I am, unless struggling Barcelona comes sniffing my way.
Anyway anyone who can answer my questions that would be great.
1. Would be good to see the confidence feature tied in with club reputation. I.e. if you lose to a club who are vastly more reputable than you the fans arent too unhappy (some unhappiness should be expected though as a loss is a loss). Conversly if you beat a team with a higher rep than you (i.e. your game v. L'pool) the fans should be extatic.
Losing to teams with a lower rep though should really put some pressure on the manager.

Great post Bodis.
I agree reputation should come into the calculation. At any time you could draw a bigger team and then not reach your goals.
I think also greater interaction on *your* intentions in the cups would be useful. e.g.
+ League cup
- Will use to blood youngsters
- Will use fringe players
- Will look to get as far as possible
- Will look to win the cup
Something along those lines may help with manager/board priority setting.
