*wince*

It is bothersome that that was even a possibility!! Hopefully its been fixed with the new international & board-confidence revamp for '08.

(Note to alarmists: 'nick...' is still playing FM'05, this isn't a "new FM'08 bug")

(Although it does lead to some entertaining speculation about the farewell conversation.

"Listen, we appreciate that you won the World Cup, but we really felt you should have beaten Brazil by more than two goals in the Final.."

.. or ..

"Frankly, we felt you were lucky to escape your group with a win and a draw, and then to go to penalties not once but twice in the elimination rounds? .."

you know, I think there should be a regular award for stupidest sacking. we could call it the 'real madrid trophy' or something. I think we have our first winner.

Are you sure he was sacked and didn't resigned, with error in the history? Maybe he have said - I've done with NT everything I've could, now let's rest.
Many managers resigns after winning the WC(Scolari, Lippi the latest examples).

What adds to the irony is that this same guy was knocked out of the qualifiers in the previous world cup, but managed to keep his job

Definately didn't resign, because I've seen a manager resign after the WC for exactly the reasons you mentioned, and I got a nice news message about it, and it said he resigned in his history.
