I'm playing the Australian league, and I've got a really good player who is attracting ALOT of interest from European clubs. The only problem is i bought him in not only because he was good, but because he is from El Salvador (who i am also managing). I REALLY don't want to let him go, but he is in his final year of his contract and not interested in signing a new one. So i could either sell him now and get some good money, or hold onto him for another year and let him go for nothing.
I wan't to keep him, cause he's my main striker and has always been to top goal scorer for my team. And now being in the Asian Champions league finals, i will no doubt need him.
On the other hand, i'd would be willing to let him go if that would somehow led other European clubs to look at other players from El Salvador for possible transfer.
Would that be possible?? Would selling him increase the interest in Salvadoran players??
Also, would there be any chance of interest in my player decreasing if i hold onto him for another 6 months and try to get him trasnfered in January?? Would the clubs offer him a contract through my club then, or would they just wait the 6 months to sign him on a free transfer??

Selling a player for the good of the country?? Post #2
It wouldn't increase interest in Salvadoran players. The computer is only after the best players, unfortunately...but you could be making some money for him right now.
If you wait until January then you're asking for trouble. You have about 1% chance of selling him, because every team will be offering him a contract to get him for FREE at the end of the season.
It's a risk man...you need to think it through. Is the money worth losing him? If its a case of maybe 500k then hang onto him, especially if you think it will help you get an extra trophy in your cabinet.
Another option you have is to sell him now, but set the transfer date for the end of the season. I'd look into that if I were you!

Yeah i'm gonna try and get as much out if it as i can. There are alot of clubs that are willing to pay 1.5 to 2 million, which is tempting.
But i'll have a look at trying to sell him and have the transfer go through at the send of the season like you said. I hadn't thought of that, hopefully it works

Thanks for the tip. I transfer listed the player and as teams made offers i told them they could only have him at the end of the season and they agreed. So i get to keep him for another year
I also got more money than i was first offerd. Managed to sell him for $5.25 Million. Not bad considering i had got him on a free transfer only 2 years earlier
