I really want to get my hands on a book or something to read it up and integrate it into my own game, im quite interested in this area. I have mixed results which isnt consistent, for every kid with good potential e.g out of 6 only 1 or 2 make the grade which is quite poor, i need much better.
I'm wondering this too. I find that all players coming through my youth academy are poorly rated, and have never had one with a potential above 3 stars. Is this due to extreme fog of war, or is it impossible for me to get quality youngsters due to low club reputation?
I'm thinking that half of these 1 star kids could turn out alright, but no-one knows what they will actually be like so they just get rated as 1 star, despite possibly having massive PA.
most of the youngters progressing my club are pooooor too except occassionaly 1 youngster is *good premiership in the future* per year which isnt great but ok, is quite random because i got this kid with pa 199 from leyton orient ;-) league one english team.. i try and buy youngsters instead of waiting but dont pay over the top never.
My big problem is:
-how i should be managing the reserves, youth team
-how to get the best results
-where / how to loan youngsters... i manage to loan few but not all ;-( even though they considereed good enough for a specific league for match experience
I think of my youth academy as more of a 'money academy'
yeah, 9 times out of ten the player isn't going to make it onto your squad, but there's always a crapper team than you willing to shell out a few bucks on what is essentially a home grown piece of crop. It's free money...

Except when you're playing in N. Ireland where all your youth players are mandated to make twice as much as your regulars, driving your finances into the toilet.
