So I am the manager of the great Dutch club called Feyenoord.
I am about £5k over my wage budget, but I really need to buy the defensive midfielder as I don't have any really good ones.
I sold Lucius to Parma for £1m as he was about 35 and no good to me at that age (Iknow its discriminating ).
Because I am over my budget, I can't offer the midfielder what he wants.
So my solution was to offer my 36 year old keepr called Timmer a mutual termination which he disagreed to. So I thought, OK, I'll simply terminate his contract. This would get me within my wage budget and I could offer the defensive midfielder what he wants.
Terminating the contract was only £220k. Not to much.
But then my board blocks it because the guy is deemed to important.
I mean the guy is 36. I have other keepers who can do his job. How can a 36 year old be deemed to important.
This is where you should be able to communicate with your board so you can persuade them of your reasons.
I find it strange that the board would say that, but a more realistic reason maybe because they feel £220k is too much money to waste on terminating a players contract.
He cant be worth much - just transfer list him and let him go for value £"0" to get him off the books quick.

ok he's 36 but look at oliver kahn, van der saar or others like peruzzi etc they where exceptionaly good goalies and they stay(ed) in the game for quite some time don't you think your board has the opinion that timmer is way better then your other keepers?

Hence why you should be able to communicate with the board.
Its like Abrahamovich telling Mourinho which players he should buy.
I'm the manager and these decisions should be mine and mine alone.
Understand your point, but i dont think Chelsea is a good example
Doubt Mourinho wanted to have a player like Schevchenko, who had none of the makings to fit into Jose's championship-winning tactic. Also rumours are it was disagreements between manager and chairman, with transfers being one of the reasons, that eventually led to 'The Special One's' sacking
Better hope your board dont try to take after the Roman Emperor - your days may be numbered if they do!!!
