I want to start a campaign to ban the FM game Editor.
Yes, I know it can be used to update info on players but it is a distorted reality that you are creating. you can buy updates on ebay that people have made which will give you an up-to-date database, taking into account all transfers. however, how useful is this when you have a 2012-2013 database but can still only start in July 2007.
The main issue I have is the blatant cheating that goes on with it. We all know that you can improve the stats of players and teams or give them more money. If you want to do that I suggest you get a lesser game. What i object to most, is the fact that people are trawling the Editor to find the players with the best potential ability and compiling lists. I'm being elitist I know, but i wish these people would go and play something else, as i think it ruins the game. I don't look at threads that suggest players to buy, I want to find them myself. I will trawl through a number of different leagues if necessary to find a player who can do the job i want. i take great satisfaction when i find someone. i don't want to know whether my 18 year old striker will make it in ten years time. I want to find out for myself by trial and error. This is what has set this game apart from the rest.
if you use the editor the way some do, you might as well start a game with man Utd Chelsea, arsenal and Liverpool and divert all the money and best players to your chosen team.
i don't care if people think that i am being a snob, i am a snob. I want this game to remain a big challenge and am not happy to see it being de-valued by cheating and endless lists of top players. Go off and play mario soccer if that's your game!!!

If I buy a game with my money I am free to play it how I chose to.

This is a genuine question and not a dig in any way but why does it bother you how other people play their game?
Surely as long as you are happy with your way and they are happy with theres then thats ok.
What would be the point in taking out the editor when it is optional if you use it or not.
Even if FM didnt come with an editor there would be plenty of third party editors avalible anyway.
Those who want to edit their data will, unless SI spend a certain amount of time trying to secue the data to stop them. From this years FM there have been two problems.
1)bugs have been overlooked, how would this be improved by the makers wasting time on securing data.
2)anti piracy measures effecting users. There were enough complaints about not being able to see the cd when all you had to ro was re-insert the CD, imadgen the outcry if the data wasnt working because of this measure.
So as far as im concerned keep the editor in. If you dont like it dont use it. Simple as!

Why on earth does it matter to you what other people do with their game?!
It's like me saying that I hate Liverpool and think it is a disgrace that some people choose to manage them in FM.
As for lists of players - I've never seen any myself...I can't think what possible reason there could be for that, but maybe I choose not to go to the Good Players forum or enter threads where people are mindlessly recommending players
What a rediculous bunch of reasons you've put forward for removing the editor.
If you don't want to see players potential then don't read threads about them or use programs that allow you to look at any of these things. Simple.
If you don't want to use the editor then don't. Simple.
Like you everyone else has paid their money for the game and therefor they can play it however they like and in whatever way gives them the most enjoyment.
Does it really bother you that much that some unknown person on the forum may have cheated to get the results they claim to have? If so then you're very sad I'm afraid and need to get out more.
Richard 76, I knew I'd get some responses like that. It's ok, I don't mind. I'm just expressing an opinion. I believe that people who can't express opinions for fear of reprisal live in places like north korea. I'm not seriously suggesting that SI should get rid of the editor. I am protesting against the misuse of it.
I'm sure you are a big boy and know that you can do what ever you want with your copy of your game. well done. However, I am suggesting that it would be better if people played the game the way it should be played, rather than suck the enjoyment and effort out of it by cutting so many corners.
