My high-flying-all-conquering-1st-in-league-killing-European-giants-averaging-2.8goals/game Arsenal drew 23rd-in-Championship Scunthorpe for the FA Cup 4th round. I said I'll eat my hats if we lose. Guess what happened. I lost 1-0.
I played best possible players because I wanted to set a new record ( I like setting record and I think I could beat my old best 9-1).
Had 28 shots, 19 on target. Arguero and Vela shots being saved by the super-keeper.
They had 2 shots, 1 on target, 1 goal.
Now, I can usually live with that because it happens occasionally, although it usually happens when I play against mid-class teams not the bottom Championship side.
But what really drove me mad was the fact that my martias fernandez miss 2 penalties!
I feel like the game wants to punish me for being so confident.
generally, its better to cast doubts on a determined, professional team, who will want to prove you wrong. overconfidence is bad. but its not always bad of course. i also said i wud eat my hat if i lost to this CH team with arsenal, and i won 9-0

Good point - I sometimes think this over confidence happens to many FM Managers who on these occassions do not analyse the opposition and apply tthe relevant tactics as they would have for a top premier side

I totally agree with you on this issue. My Problem is it happens to me in general Even I don't make any comments before games, I loose or tie most of my games like this. Also in every game 5-10 chances I get are one-on-ones.
Pretty much all the confident options in team talk could be changed to "Grab a cup of tea on the way and make sure you don't get in the way of the other team running around out there."

Yeah if a comment is gonna be terrible in 99% of situations should not really be included.

I was referring to the team talk over confident thing. I also have had not too much adverse affect from over confidence in the media.
Especially enjoyed saying if I thought yakubu could give us any problems i would not have sold him. It did say he was fired up during game..was worried for a minute or so but my team won 1-0 despite having player sent off around the 60 min mark
