Nothing you really can do. Some say they have had some success with setting high asking prices on their top players to keep the bids away.

Something that worked for me on FM 07 was offering them en new contract with a very high minimum release clause. They seem to accept contracts regardless of this clause as it doesn't really concern them, so you could set it to 70M or so. The board seems to respect this contractual agreement, at least I've never the board interfere in these cases.

it happened to me too.try going to transfer status on a player and tick reject all offers,worked for me.
