Having a 16-year old very promising new signing. Want to give him some first team action to boast his development. Mostly as sub when the match is pretty safe, but also due to injuries starting one match. Has been given 6 as sub and 7 for the whole mtach which is pretty common. Also lately two 5 which must be from the reserve team (no fixtures).
The fans thinks he's a very poor (allthough rather cheap) acqusation and this require jsutification.
I don't know if I should laugh or cry. Are the "fans" in FM totally mindless, without any patience and lacks all perspective of time.

I've seen the same thing. Bought a cheap young striker who played a few poor pre-season games at the age of 17 - the fans were angered at the poor signing (100k). Then a few seasons later he breaks into the lineup full time and scores 20 goals in 28 games, no SIGN of the fans, nor anyone critical. I wish there was a 'I told you so - rub it in the fans' faces'-feature about such cases

I seem to be saying this every week, but this is yet another example of the faulty board confidence feature.
For FM09 can SI please finish any new features before they add them?

Usually with very young signings I just leave them in the reserves until the fans stop commenting that they've not seen enough of him to judge if he is a good signing or not.

I hate to disagree here but it's not altogether wrong allthough it definetely needs more work,
but I mean we are talking about football fans here you know?! not the most patient or tolerant of groups, it's their prerogative.
There should most definetely be an "I told you so button" among simiar other ones that are lacking.

If you buy a young player most would understand he's bought for the future. In my opinion there should be such an option for the transfer screen.
I tried using Hot prospect for the future, but the fans still complain? I feel like calling in a press conference and saying " BOY IS FOR FUTURE, NOT RIGHT NOW" as I don't think these fans quite understand normal english.

I forgot to add that if you bring in a young player to the first team you are sort of throwing him on the fire as it were and the fans have every right to not only critisise him and his inadequencies but more appropiately you and yr judgement for puttig an immature youth in there, you could potentially traumatize him and stun his growth.

I said "Mostly as sub when the match is pretty safe, but also due to injuries starting one match." Not excactly "throwing him on the fire".
When the match is pretty safe and the team wins I think most fans would be happy and more forgiving towards a promising youth even if he doesn't play better than most first divisson players.
