I think I found it mentioned in one of your replies in a thread about basque clubs when I was searching for a new game to start a couple of weeks ago.

I've done 6 seasons now and I'm still in D2B, narrowly avoiding relegation in the first 2 season but competing for promotion playoff places for the last 4 seasons, and was even 5 minutes away from promotion in the only playoff final I've reached, before conceding 2 goals the club reputation has only just changed from obscure to local, and I'm still expected to lose every game and expected to battle bravely against relegation by the board. Despite having lots of money in the bank I still can't attract any half decent players and have had no youngsters come through the youth team, even though the club facilities have been upgraded to average. </BLOCKQUOTE>

How did you find players to sign? I remember hardly any players were willing to sign.

I might try it again, any extra rules to make it fairer? Retain Spanish players or large db? Only Spanish leagues? I like to load the main European leagues as it seems to keep everything a bit more balanced.

If I ever complete Dafuge's challenge I might give this a go as I've only ever played one season outside the UK. The only problem is that the Premiership is proving a tough nut to crack .

Most of my first eleven are still players who started at Durango, except my strikers who both had to be sold at the end of last season. I send my scouts out around Spain in between seasons and find the odd half decent free transfer 17yr old who is willing to sign, and look at transfer-listed players in the player search. There's very little talent interested though, my squad doesn't change very often, or quickly. Even when I made a club in the editor with a repuation of 1 and put them in the Conference North, they were able to sign better players after one season than Durango are!

I did it on small database, with all Spanish leagues loaded you should have almost every Basque player available, apart from those that really are utter rubbish, so I don't think it'll make much difference if you load extra players or leagues. Therefore there aren't any rules regarding leagues or database.

Obviously FMScout isn't allowed, and you should use your own tactics and training schedules (this is pretty much all you can do with Durango at the start as you can hardly sign any players, so to use someone elses tactics or training would make the challenge pretty pointless).

I'm interested to see if the Durango players have fixed ability, or if they're very different from game to game, as one or two of my original squad have become surprisingly decent players!

What's worse it that they've given him the title "Sacked From FM Testing Team"...

I almost took on this challenge at one point, but I ultimately decided against managing any Basque clubs, because I personally consider their player policy to be racist. I tend to manage only in countries or at clubs where there is a fairly open policy about 'foreign' players. Nationalism and ethnocentrism make me sick, and I'm generally unsympathetic to the protectionism that fuels player restrictions.

I've decided to have another go at this, lost the first game 2-1 but got a 1-1 draw against Lemona, another Basque team. We hit the post twice before going 1-0 up, and could have easily won or lost the game with both teams having a few good chances.

Its quite funny seeing the odds, 50-1 to win every match, shame you can't bet in the game

Good luck Schoam

I finally got promoted after about 8 seasons, and halfway throught he next season we were hovering around the relegation zone and getting attendances of around 60 everytime we played one of the B teams at home.

It certainly gets very strange playing in the Segunda - there's a massive difference in quality between the teams at the top and the bottom, and with the B teams you never know what you're gonna be playing against. The first time I played Barca B they had Tevez up front with international regen strikers from Holland and France, the next time they had all crappy grey players. Very random.

Have you bought many players? Got any youth players through? How did you improve the team?
