Large Update:
Gateshead 2 – 1 Scotby
Eddie Anaclet Own Goal (69)
Michael Maidens (78)
What a fantastic result. And with a depleted squad. Maidens picks up a goal after moving from midfield to upfront.
Worcester 1 – 4 Gateshead
Daniel Rowe (33)
Michael Maidens (49, 90)
Neil Maddison (72)
Another good performance, Maidens very impressive upfront.. In all competitions I’m now 18 games unbeaten.
Gateshead 0 – 2 Worksop FA Trophy 4th Qual. Rnd
Again I played a younger side, we missed two penalties and we got beat. Oh well.
Workington 3 – 2 Gateshead
Michael Maidens (55)
Chris Feasey (66)
My run was over – my injury depleted squad could not cope for any longer. We started brightly but Michael Laws got sent off for 2 bookable offences after 16 minutes. I had still managed to get myself a lead of 2 – 1. However, Chris Feasey was then sent off 2 minutes after he scored. 2 goals in 10 minutes killed me off and handed Workington the win.
Gateshead 3 – 1 Moor Green
Daniel Rowe (4, 87)
James Curtis (17)
Another good win, Rowe hitting his 9th and 10th goals of the season, while Captain Curtis continued his outstanding scoring record – that’s now 7 goals in 17 games. Hardly bad for a centre back.

Which I will do when one of the players even those existing currently in the squad have staff profiles and will accept an assistant manager contract.
I know nothing about the squad at Braintree and I needed an assistant.
She wasn't the best available but she was willing to sign on the cheap for one season. I won't be renewing her contract even if none of my players get staff profiles, I'll just get another stop gap every year until I can get one of my own players in.
That's something that I intend to do for all staff until I can get my own players to take over as coaches, physios and scout.

I assume that it is against the rules to give a new contract out to players who you've started out with.
It doesn't bother me either way as I'll either sell them if they've got a decent value or just let the contract run out and release them.
I do have one young player who has not got anything other then Braintree on his history, if I can find out that he's only ever played for Braintree does he count as a homegrown player?

I've given up on my attempt at this, I couldn't see any way that my Braintree team could ever improve. Good luck to those doing it, you'll need it!

Couple more wins to report :
Gateshead 5 - 3 Barrow
Michael Maidens (4, 7, 30)
Richard Flynn (26, 65)
another great win - Maidnes with a first half hattrick and big centre back Richard Flynn fired in two freekicks from 30 and 25 yards respectivly.
Hinckly 0 - 2 Gateshead
Michael Maidens (3)
Jason Allen (15)
What a win - my only gray player that i signed; young Jason Allen got a goal and an assist, while also hitting the bar, he seems a good player..

Decent in the air and not too slow either.
Scotby are starting to lose some of their better players, hopefully they will lose nearly of their squad.

So do we get to see seasonal updates?
(Instead of bits and bobs as people see fit)
Im keen to follow this but would be in favour of a seasonal summary much like Daf's challenge.
Feel free to ignore me though - ill probably never get round to doing a challenge on here |

Boooo! Improve with better training, better schedules, better tactics and slowly introducing your better youth.
| The thing is, training can only improve your players so much, and if your players are rubbish your tactics can only achieve so much. If you can't afford to improve your facilities you are never going to get any better youth and even if you can improve your facilities you still rarely get any half decent youngsters. If I put together all the youngsters I've got through my youth system at every club I've ever been in FM, I'd still barely have a Conference National standard team, if that (that's with years and years at huge clubs with top facilities, so with a tiny club with poor-average facilities, I wouldn't expect very much at all!).
That said, it probably is possible to progress albeit very slowly. It must take decades to get anywhere near the Prem doing this, unless you start off with lots of good players.
I'm very interested to see how you do with it.

Numbas - i porbably agree, so this will be my last bits and bobs update, i will start doing seasonal ones:
My last update:
Gateshead 2 – 2 Hucknall
Lee George (89, 90)
An unbelievable comeback – we were two nil down at half time, two keeper errors, one being an own goal. Two more players got injured and I changed tactic, basically everybody out of position. Lee George, who had been crap all season, bagged two crucial goals.
Gateshead 2 – 0 Stalybridge
Daniel Rowe (6)
Paul Buzzeo (pen. 12)
Solid victory – they ended up with 8 men by the final minute and it was a cruise against the team that beat me 1 – 0 on the opening day.
Gateshead 4 – 1 Burscough
Bradley Johnston (9)
Daniel Rowe (72, 88)
Burscough O.G (81)
Superb, we blew them away in our third home game in a row.
Alfreton 0 – 1 Gateshead
Bradley Johnston (67)
The little left winger did the trick again. Both big centre backs were outstanding and played 9’s.
Still 6 points behind runaway leaders Scotby, but they were still losing players
