Its unrealistic in the sense that no other team will be doing the same as me.

This game is a simulation of real life football.

This challenge diverts away from that and seems impossible.

BUT prove me wrong!

Take you ages but prove me wrong!

I love challenges but this one would be too hard and time consuming, basically you cant sign anyone!
I think you're right with the fact that this challenge may take ages to gat anywhere but it's certainly not pointless. I think this is probably the most interesting challenge that has been posted in a while and I will certainly be monitoring it's progress, although I won't take part (just yet) as I'm still far too attached to my Braintree game.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised about how far some people may get with this challenge.

One for the master tacticians I think.

Its similar to the Cultural Durango challenge (the awful Basque team in Spain) in a way, both are much harder than most challenges, but not impossible.

With this challenge it won't just be about taking a team from the bottom to making the best in the world, winning the FA Trophy and getting to the football league would be success.

Would getting promoted get any points if you win the playoff? As-is, you get points for third place even without promotion.

I can't see it mentioned anywhere but what size database should we run? I'm thinking to run a small database as it will run quicker and i don't need a large database size, but it would also be very useful to start with actual players. I was also wondering whether the database size will effect how many youth players come through?

Gateshead update:

Droylesden 0 - 2 Gateshead

Daniel Rowe (39)
Kevin Henderson (62)

Very good performance and great victory against a good side.

Gateshead 1 - 1 Worksop
James Curtis (30)

Gutted. We dominated the match and were beating 2nd place until they score in the 88th minute with a cross, the flukiest goal ever.

Wakefield - Emley 1 - 0 Gateshead (FA Cup 2nd Qual. rnd)

I put out a young, weak side, thinking it was the FA Trophy. Lost a bit of possible revenue there.

Stafford Rangers 1 - 1 Gateshead
Chris Feasey (14)

Ive never beaten Stafford Rangers in 19 attempts now on this game and we were ahead until the 69th minute.

Still doing well in the league:

4th Gateshead Pld 7 W4 Drn 2 Lst 1 Pts 14

I have a problem though - Scotby, a team i edited in are destroying the legaue, and have won all 7 of their games, which means my only chance of promotion seems to be the playoffs.

Yes it could effect the youth players, but then no one ever seems to get youth players through in the lower leagues anyway. Surely just English leagues, normal detail, large db won't be too slow anyway?

I've started this now.
One year of holiday and Braintree got promoted.

I couldn't get the coach to sign as an assistant, so I got a woman called Vicky Roby in. The advantge is that 3 days a month the players will never put a foot wrong

I've not played any games yet but I have signed my first grey player and I've got my eyes on a couple more. I have also managed to release a couple of real players whose contracts were up.
