I think I'm gonna have a go at this, should be very quick to get through seasons, since you can't buy anyone!
Can you use the players at the club when you take over, even if they didn't start their careers at the club?
Yes but remember - when your entire club contains only players from your youth system your points for that season onward, are doubled.

15 - Your entire Squad consists of only regens - multiply score by 2
Its tough. After 9 games I am 16th! Makes a change from winning the title at the first go. </BLOCKQUOTE>
is the double points rule for just regens? what happens if your squad is full of your youth players and 3 grey players?

I'm contemplating having a go at this alongside my Dafuge challenge game.
I'm currently in 2017 and need to clarify the starting rules. I am keen to take over Welsh side Merthyr Tydfil but they are currently in Conference South and next season, (the earliest point at which I will be able to take over for a full season), will be their 2nd season in Conference South.
Is that ok because they were not playable at the beginning of the game, or do I have to try and find a club that has not been promoted before? (As I am in 2017 that may not be that easy).

Makes no difference, 'cos I've just taken over Braintree and they have no players in their squad anyway!
Survival shouldn't be a massice problem, but getting towards the top of the table will probably take years. In other games I've rarely had any youth players come through at all, especially before the club has decent facilities, which isn't going to happen any time soon since I won't be able to make any money 'cos I have no decent players to sell!
Maybe I should have used normal database then I would have had some actual players...

This challenge is pointless as it doesnt reflect real life and there is no way you will be winning the Champions League with a conference north/south team with JUST regens or grey players.
I estimate it would take over 50 seasons at least to achieve any measure of success.
I love challenges but this one would be too hard and time consuming, basically you cant sign anyone!

This challenge will probably be better suited for FM 07, as every club is meant to get some youth players every year.

That sounds promising!
So far I've played 3, lost 3. Conceded 11 goals from 11 shots on target. I think my keeper sucks. Also, I have one coach and one assistant manager, and it'll be at least 15-20 years before any of my players retire.

Well far from being pointless, 1 reason for trying to complete this challenge would be to prove you wrong. That's certainly not pointless.
As far as it not reflecting real life.......
It is a game. Do you really think that sitting in from of your pc managing your team is any more realistic?.
