Braintree Season 2006/2007 Review
As you can see from the
league table I had a good season. 15 points clear of 2nd in the league. I even went 15 games without defeat.
Here's the
successful squad, I have got a couple more players (including greys) that played during the season that aren't on the list, as they've either been sold or will elave the club during the summer.
The squad even finished with the fewest number of
yellow cards in the league. But they certainly aren't angels as I did get a number od
red cards.
I ended up giving contracts to 9 grey players from the reserves or yout team.
Craig McDermott isn't the best of the players, but he did OK covering for suspensions.
James Hudson will only ever be a backup. Both his goals came from mistakes by the oppositions with bad backpasses.
James McGuire did OK when called upon and even kept 10 clean sheets from his 21 games.
Marc Moore was mainly used for cover/rotation but he did pretty well in his first season. Needless to say both goals came from penalties.
Matthew Rowe was only used for backup. He did OK but did make some mistakes and conceeded fouls in bad positions.
Phillip Mitchell did OK and trained up pretty well into a DMC that was useful at times during the season. His very low determination will mean that he'll only every be back up.
Richard James became my first choice right winger. Hopefully he'll eb able to do as well next season.
Simon Welch was the first grey I signed and became my third choice striker.
I've saved the best till last.
Matthew Gill was pushing very hard to be a first choice MC and due to injuries he played a large number of games. Even my AM says that
he's got potential.
I think that I got lucky with him and he could be one of the few grey players that turn out to be pretty good.
Season 2007/2008 Preview
Well, it'll be hard, very hard. Hopefully I can survive in the league and become a professional club.
Yet again my starting coach is refusing to become my Assistant Manager and as yet none of the players over 30 have got staff profiles. So I'm forced to keep the AM I hired at the beginning of this challenge, only on a one year deal to make it cheaper to sack her when I get a player to take her place.
I think that I'll need to hire some more physios, as last season my oen got quite a work out. Luckily SMSL's rules state that I can hire them from elsewhere
