I had been getting quite fed-up with this game - I'd been messing about with Dafuge's challenge for quite a while but seemed to get stuck in a kind of "no-hope" loop after my second Premier League season.
This seems kinda impossible so I thought I'd give it a go. It's rather strange removing the transfer dealing from the game, but it certainly speeds things up.
So, by some incredible miracle I won the Conference South title in the first season with Braintree. I have no real explanation for this, in fact it's quite inexplicable.
I used my own training schedules and a pretty basic 4-4-2/4-3-3 tactic and the results kept on rolling in.

As you can see, pretty bizarre stuff. Toku and Coote formed an formidable front pairing, picking up 35 league goals between them. Forbes chipped in with 10 league assists despite his despicable crossing ability (3!). Toku had the most league assists of any player at 16, and had 11 MOM to go with it. Both Bolton and Wolves are interested but he ain't going no place unless they stump-up some real cash. Hopefully if that happens the board will agree to improve the training facilities.
It'll be interesting to see how we fare in the Conference National, but I'm not expecting anything as spectacular as the first season.
I'm having a real problem with contracts. Many of the players have got too big for their boots after winning the league and want idiotic (by Braintree's standards) pay rises to stay.
I promoted one grey player, Ross Corbett, an "AM RC, FC" to cover the right wing position. He only played 9 games but did well enough to justify his contract.
Can't wait for the next season just to see if this whole thing makes any sense, and indeed, whether it is possible at all.
