Default Recommended League Setup

Hello. I'm just about to start a new FM game and I'm wondering about a recommended league setup. This isn't really coming from a "can my computer handle this?" point of view as mine is pretty powerful and I don't mind a few longish load times although I don't want to go completely overboard. I'm really wondering which leagues are important. At the moment I have 16 nations with all players loaded from each one and each one playable and a large database.

Argentina
Australia
Brazil
Chile
England
France
Germany
Greece
Holland
Italy
Mexico
Portugal
Scotland
Spain
Turkey
USA

Basically, are there any leagues in there that aren't worth it and am I missing out on any really important ones? Should I load some players from any countries? I was thinking China as one. Thanks for the help in advance.

I should have mentioned that I'm Australian so that's why I put it in. I also like having a bit of diversity so I put in the MLS as it ain't European basically and is on the rise.

Any Scandinavian leagues worth it? Czeck Republic? Any Asian leagues?

Are Greece, Holland and Turkey worth it? They were my later selections.

Why is Chile no good? All I remember is Colo Colo playing Leeds in a friendly down here in Melbourne...back in the day when Leeds was good

I see that a lot of people load the Irish and Welsh leagues. Is that because they are actually decent or do people just like them because they have some crappy lower level teams that are fun to manage?

Holland is a top league so keep it and in FM Greece and Turkey leagues have a high reputation so keep them. Dont load Ireland and Wales they are completely useless leagues...the forum is full of British people and that is why they load them. Denmark is a good Scandinavian league so you might want to load them so you have something from that region. You might want to look into having China or Korea as an Asian league.

When i start a "big game" then i follow these principles:

1.) How big will be the save after 20 years? (depending on the DB - for me its the large one)
2.) Where will i work as Coach not only at the beginnig - also in the future?
3.) I love to build connected geographical areas .... ( eg. UK + NIrl, BEL + NL + GER + AUT + SUI + FRA -> my favorite setup)
4.) I don“t "load all player of xyz..."

Sorry, forgot:

5: If you need a hint about the quality of some european leagues, have a look to the 5-Year-Ranking of the UEFA (!)

I like having leagues from each continent, so I'd add South Africa, even though it's kind of classless, just to have Africa on the list.

China and South Korea are needed for Asia.

Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Croatia, Switzerland are all on my list as well. I loaded Ireland in my game, and now wish I hadn't.

The game I'm running now has:

China, South Korea

USA, Mexico

Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Holland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Ireland, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and if I had not loaded Ireland, I'd have Ukraine.

South Africa

Argentina, Brazil, Chile

England, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, and Brazil have all leagues and players loaded, the rest are the top league only. All playable, with a large database.

As someone said here it's nice to have some from each continent just to expand the game a bit. I've added USA, Austrailia, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, China and South Korea to get som width.

As for European I go for the big leagues (England, Spain and Italy) coupled with Holland, Germany, France, Portugal, and Belgium and Scotland (just to get Celtic and Rangers manageable in the game tbh).

Also it's worth adding a few Scandinavian because I've found youngsters from there quite good in all FM/CM's. Sweden's my fave but I have added Norway and Denmark as well.

I wish I could run all that...I normally only run 1 or 2 countries since my computer is a bit old. Not going to have much time soon anyway as I start my final year of high school but after that I am going to get a new laptop and play like 30 leagues. I have never played like that...would be cool just changing jobs from 1 country to another to another.
