What YOU want to see in the next patch of FM 2008. Posting model inside.
Loads of things were left untouched since 2005's incarnation of FM so i'm going to point out some of them and hopefully you will too. Add to the following list points that were not addressed or have been addressed in a fashion not to your liking, don't repeat points that were already mentioned in the same way you want them to be mentioned ( i.e. don't add points like 'chance to goal conversion too low' when it has been mentioned in a similar fashion )
Here goes, in a random order of importance:
-In the squad selection screen you get an annoying drop-down list when selecting a position to be moved around from a player to another, the drop-down list should appear only after releasing the click ( read: press and release ) not after .3 seconds of holding while deciding which player to appoint to that position.
-League reputation/quality still doesn't increase/decrease even when many clubs performing in that league obtain outstanding achievements in continental competitions repeatedly. National trophies reputation should also vary based on the above. The national team should also affect the above.
-Clubs reputation seems to have too much of an impact in matches, especially when fighting teams with weaker players but with far FAR greater club rep.
-Too many clicks needed from match day news to the actual start of the match, one option would be to make some of the screens tick-able ( and thus optional ) in the preferences screen, a second would be to designing a more compact and very detailed info screen right after the match day news, before the squad selection like in CM 01/02 .. i think.
-An option to set the default screen in the match, currently it's 'the overview' and it can't be changed.
-An extra skin, provided by SI, with the EXACT opposite color choices would be a great idea, since many of the skins provided by fans have many fundamental flaws.
-An 'assistant manager advices' box in matches where the assistant manager points out some of the obvious or less obvious choices/options that you can take, including " player X is having a really hard time passing and receiving passes from that position " or " the oppositions manager just pushed his wing men UP, maybe we could Y " or " Z is too tired to keep up, maybe you should " . This box should have it's predefined place, visible from the animated version of the match and also optional.
-A half time screen with all or most of the tactical settings you have observed during the first half or during the second half ( before extra time ) that your oppositions managers set up. Kind of like your own tactical screen but without any changes in it before the breaks. Like in CM 01/02 ?

If you expect SI to take this thread at all seriously it would have to be kept sensible - i.e. minor tweaks. For me, the immediate one is the near-post corner 'bug' in the match engine.

1) To be released soon rather than later (maybe the patch soon and a data update in February)
2) Fix the shot/shot on goal ratio
3) Make the defender less dumb
4) Fix the ridicoulus registration bug
5) Fix the confidence bug so we no longer read that the board and the fan still remember the 2-1 loss (in a friendly) away to Anversa despite dominating and winning in Premiership/League Cup/FA Cup/Champions and stop the board hate you when you exit the League Cup in the second leg only because you were drawn against Chelsea away (as Ipswich) despite doing well in championship...
6) Fix the confidence new signings bug so we can play wonderkid without fearing that they will be hated by the fan only becasue they get 6s (when you play them as substitute at 80 min)
7) Fix the bug where England win Euro 2008

yes and I believe all this issues are very linked. the heart of it (in my opinoum) is defensive awerness of the players. if you are playing within premiership, defense doesn't look like such, more of the league 2 standard
so:

They cant fix that in a patch because it will require adding a new feature where Englishmen cant play international football. No new features are ever added in patches

If I ask my assistent to handle team talks I don't want see what he advices me to say. I want HIM to do it. At the moment I feel like SI are forcing me to use team talks and opp. instructions.
