A positive note about FM08 ** Names and Tactics inside **
In these dark times for SI receiving so much hatred about this fantastic game, I thought I might cheer the mood and try and cut some atmosphere from this forum by explaining my 1st season with Arsenal on 8.0.1.
I always choose the 4-1-3-2 defensive formation. If you have a look at this, the instructions are right down the middle (everything on 10 (if the scale was 20)).
With a few minor tweaks to this (Def Line down by 4) and forward runs tweaked to None for Defensive people and Always for Attacking people) that was my tactic. A very KISS solution.
Also, bought new coaches and setup a new training schedule for Attacking and Defensive, and assigned these to the relevant people.
The first season saw me win the Premiership, and get dumped out of all cups in the Semis. My board is pleased with me (as are the fans).
In this, I sold Gael Clichy for £19.5m, Denilson for £30m (£10m up front, £20m over 24 months), and Eboue for another £10.5m. So thats £60m in three transfers. Only bought Lopez and Bresciano to replace these transfers.
Now starting my 2nd season, also bought Andrea Barzagli for £15m. And I still have over £70m to spend.
Keeping with the same tactic, Adebayor scored 34 goals all competitions, Van Persie scored 28 goals all competitions and Eduardo has scored 17 goals all competitions. Now that I am using a defensive tactic (which isn't really defensive, all attributes are at 10) I'm playing a lot better.
Injuries are only 1 week to 1 month, with the odd 3 month. I have a big squad so I'm not really affected by this.
So hats of to SI for this marvellous game.
