I've started playing as valencia and finished my first season 2nd and reach the quarter finals of CL, the board loved me at the end of the season basically.

Came to the transfer window and i splash out 15M on Akinfeev(GK) and 23M on Zapata (not the best prices i guess but i really wanted both of them), for these transfers i paid the total amount up front.

When i got my next board report they said i should be doing better because i show no care for their bank balance.

is this because i didn't pay some by installments? If so what kind of percentage do i need to pay by installments (e.g. 50% upfront 50% installments). Also do club charge you more when you pay some by installments? Also does paying by installment effect minimum release clauses (e.g 5M release clause; 2M upfront 3M by installments, will that force an acceptance?)

No, the message is diractly related to the state of your balance at that time. At least as far as I know

While you didn't exceed your transfer budget, ambitious and well funded teams often gives you a greater transfer budget than their balance, hence you probably just took Valencia from £30 million in credit to £10 million in debt.

Installments are a good idea, but only in certain situations - having too many monthly installments will completely ruin your club, especially if you have a high wage bill - but they are a better way to keep your board happy - and I believe this is how 90% of transfers are handled in the real world.

Probably true to an extent. I remember, though, when Man Utd were chasing Hargreaves that Bayern didn't want it on installments and such because German tax laws meant they had to pay the full tax when the transfer went through. Then again, that's not a worry in FM
