When I am 1 up at HT I dont say anything and it works more often than not. Which is weird in a way.
With team talks, its best to make notes what effects different players and use that to your advantage, but dont over use it - it doesnt become as effective then.
The one bad thing is that we as managers dont really 'know' a players personality - there is no real feedback, so we just have to make do with what we've got for now.
It would be better if 'Nothing specific noted' or suchlike is replaced with something else - does anyone know what this means anyway!?!?
Also, how does a player look delighted yet seems demotivated - had that a few times!
I have come to the conclusion that team talks have become a complete lottery on FM08.
It used to be as a big club I'd start with "I expect a win", always. Now nothing seems to get a response at the start but "For the fans" which would mean nothing after the 500th time. Half time is worse, if I'm 2-0 up against a good team the last thing I wanna do is say I'm pleased, as this will encourage them to set up shop it seems. Hoever more often than not its either that, dissappointed or don't let your performance drop, which from my experience causes their performance to implode.
Its a case of finding the neutral option hidden among 4 self destruct buttons.
What I say depends on who is favoured to win the match. If you are an underdog lambasting players will not work. I try to be positive and encourage whenever possible (soemtimes you've got to wake them up though) seems to work.
