If your scout rates him as 7 stars, then I guess he has a lot of potential. Despite being 26, he could be a later developer | Ignore my post.
That will teach me for not reading properly |

To follow up on my post (damn no editing forums!) He is a very well rounded striker.
If you compare him to some of the top strikers in the premier league..for example, lets look at Torres:
Torres is very fast, technically great, but he wouldn't have the work rate or strength of this player.
Michael Owen - averagely fast, but he wouldn't have the work rate or strength of this player.

Previous year he had 18 league goals in 34 matches in the Premiership for a team that was then relegated.
My scout says he's a 7 star player.
But his ratings just don't seem that good! He only has 4 scores above 15, and most of his mental and technical ratings are mediocre. So why is he so amazing? It's always been my understanding that finishing by itself is just not enough to make a lethal top-tier striker. If I were looking to aquire someone I normally would look past him for other players with better mental and technical ratings.
| finshing is enogh in reallife anyway i am a rangers fan but krisboyd is **** he has no ablity aprt from being a worldclass goalscorer so maybe that is what that gu is on the game.

Hmm, to echo Wakers, this guy is far superior to the strikers i had previously mentioned.
I wouldnt be too mythed about him scoring plenty. In fact, I'd possibly expect him to bag a few!
Wish I had one like that =(

Thanks for the analysis. That is helpful. Perhaps I am underrating some of the key ratings, like Strength, First Touch and especially work rate. I have noticed players with high work rate always seem to be good, is it as important as it seems?

Pace - 16
Strength - 18
He has the technical ability to cope with the ball being played into his feet, he is clinical and can be composed in front of goal, and he has the pace and acceleration to get behind defenders, as well as the strength to really trouble defenders. His passing is not bad for a striker either.
| I'm completely with you here. Despite not being an amazingly well-rounded player, he's got high stats in all the right places.
I also think (though better-informed members are free to correct me here) that around the time Championship Manager turned into Football Manager, the stats were adjusted and so now a striker with 14 for his key attributes is still very good (Premiership quality), whereas in CM00-01 and 01-02, I found that to compete in the Premiership a striker would need 17+ for his important attributes. I may be wrong though.

Exactly what I was going to say - not great in the air but he doesn't have to be - just look at Rooney & Tevez.
He's got great stats where it counts

But it does seem that ability is the thing you should judge players by in this version above ALL else.
If you have someone with perfect stats but only 150 ability, he will perform worse than someone with average stats but 160 ability
| I would have to agree with this, i have bought lulinha in my two last games, in the first one his stats developed very well as expected and he was amazing, in my second game his stats have not developed that well and he looks like a rather average midfielder for the premiership yet his amazing performances are much the same as the previous game. Also i bought Alex from Vasco and despite the fact that his stats are very average he is great (which could be that 170PA i have heard he has)

| I disagree. I just bought a young player called Roberto Signorini, he's 21 and his stats are amaing. He only has 126 CA though. He has scored 20+ goals in both his seasons with my average Blackburn team. It's down to his stats, I'm sure.
