I'm using the first beta patch at the moment, it provides the most fun game for me - some people experience a bug where the finances seem to mysteriously vanish - although why it happens is unknown and it is rare. Also you can counter it with FMM easily enough.
I find that in the second beta patch ai managers unfairly get sacked and don't have contracts renewed much more often than in the first, and imo the match engine is pretty solid in the first - although closing down is only 75% working.
I honestly believe the match engine in the first beta patch is superior to both that came after it.
I found the closing down bug was more noticeable in the updated beta patch, and then in the full patch the whole 1 vs 1 and having silly amounts of chances issue reared it's ugly head.
I don't really have a problem with any other bugs other than the ones in the match engine, which for me is the heart of the game. So I choose whichever patch has the best ME, and from what I can tell, its definitely the first beta.
Going from the full patch back to the first beta is tricky - if you just install the patch again it won't touch some of the other problems introduced in the full patch because the beta is so small in comparison.
Secondly, ME changes either don't fully get applied or won't apply until the next time you get past the 19th of June (when the game updates itself) so the best thing to do is reinstall FM (don't have to uninstall) and then install the beta patch and start a new game.
What I done was copy the updated database files from the full patch and then reinstall FM and install the beta patch. Then I used the updated database to start a new game, and all is good.

Thats a good idea, im sure that will work fine! But am I the only one that finds it kinda ruins the game when you start a season in July with players and managers that weren't at the club in real life until the end of August or in some cases January?
I think that the updated databases should include these as future transfers and allow the manager to terminate them at the start of the season.
At the risk of being labbled a 'fanboy' I honestly think the full beta patch is the best.
Just completed my second seson in the Blue Square North with Gateshead and I'm enjoying it immensly. Before the confidence and attendance bugs were fixed long term lower league games were at times impossible.
