It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Cesc Fabregas

I don't know why because he is a world class player, but I just can't seem to get him to perform well. He normally gets 7s. Sometimes 6s. There are a few times he gets 8s but thats really only when the team as a whole are getting higher ratings. I just can't get any consistency out of him.

Here is his current player instructions
Any suggestions on these and Cesc in general would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Oh btw - I play him in the left central midfielder position. In a 4-4-2 formation, with my wingers in the AML/AMR positions.

try making him your playmaker as well
he has an average rating of 7.11 for me over 44 games which is very consistent in my mind

I think you may be over-complicating his instructions.

Alterations that personally would make would be:

- Closing down - reduce his slider as having him close down all over the pitch may reduce his chances of receiving the ball in space and also it may burden him with defensive responsibilities which he doesn't need that could tire him out.

- Reduce his mentality and creative freedom sliders. Giving him too much creative freedom could lead to him over-complicating moves and trying things that are difficult to pull-off. His pass completion rate may be low etc.

- Maybe consider unticking the 'free role' box. Personally i think Cesc plays brilliantly from the center and i wouldn't really want him wandering to other areas of the pitch.

From my personal experiences, keeping things relatively simple with Cesc is the best way to go, obviously he is a world class midfielder so inevitably he will perform basic tactics with great effect.

Take off his free role and up his passing to mixed imo. Whats the point in having one of the best passers of the ball trying through balls often if he only is allowed a small range of targets.
